Will my dually fit through a car wash?
The short answer: at tunnel washes, width is the problem, not height. Current factory dually pickups from Ram and GMC are published at about 96.5–96.6 inches wide. That's a hair over the 96-inch limit in Tommy's Express's help center and under the 98 inches in its older blog post. Most other big tunnel chains don't take dual rear wheels at all. Below are the manufacturer numbers, the wash limits, and how to measure your own truck.
Factory dually widths and heights (2026 model year)
These come straight from manufacturer spec sheets. They're base-model numbers. Fender flares, tow mirrors, lift kits, racks and other upfits change them, so measure your actual truck.
| Truck | Width | Height (in) | Rear track (in) | Source |

We found no Ford-published 2026 DRW width without mirrors, so that cell stays blank. We don't guess. Some dealer and spec-aggregator sites list a number, but it isn't Ford's.

Tommy's sources: help center: Can my vehicle fit? (96 in, 84 in, 33 in tire track) · blog: Can you wash dually pick-up trucks? (Apr 5, 2022) (98 in, 84 in). Both re-checked 2026-10-31. Other chains: see the sources on chain size rules.
Height usually isn't the issue
The manufacturer heights above run from about 77 in (Ram 3500 DRW Crew Cab 4x2) to about 82 in (Ford F-450 DRW), all under Tommy's 84 in. That changes once you add a lift, a roof rack, a light bar, a ladder rack or a tall camper shell. Measure to the highest point.
How to measure your dually before you pull in
- Width across the rear fenders. Park on level ground. Hold a straight board or level against the outside of each rear fender flare (the widest point of most duallies) and measure between them. Fold or retract tow mirrors, and note whether they still stick out past the fenders.
- Height to the highest point. Measure from the ground to the top of the roof, plus anything mounted there (antennas, light bars, racks, cab-high toppers).
- Compare to the specific location. Chain policies are a starting point, and individual sites can be stricter. Tommy's tells drivers near a limit to have a team member check it out.
- Prep for a conveyor-belt tunnel. Tommy's asks drivers to disengage 4WD and make sure the bed is covered or cleared of loose items.
